Viticulture

VineyardStanley Lambert wines are committed to always producing the best possible premium wines. For them, the process begins with the Vineyard, where every thing possible is done so that the vines produce quality grapes. After harvest continual care is taken in the tank, and in oak, with frequent tasting prior to the finished product being bottled.

Jim Lambert made a commitment to not just grow grapes, but to develop an outstanding vineyard in the picturesque Barossa Valley that would produce fruit of the most desirable qualities. Working in conjunction with the winemaker from the first bud of spring ensures the winemaking process from its very beginning.

The Lambert Estate Vineyard is in the process of ISO accreditation, which is expected in the near future. This is vine growing using the best of modern and green technology. With ISO the vineyard is trellised and fully monitored with only approved material so decisions can be made on vine health and fruit development. Selected clones are planted, including a number of heritage clones assessed and propagated from original plantings in South Australia. Sensors forward the new planting water requirements, vine transpiration, transcending to weather, wind, rainfall, frost, and temperature to a central control by wired and radio transmission. Stanley Lambert are making a premium viticultural enhancement aimed to advance world class premium quality Barossa Valley fruit.

The Barossa has flourished as a wine-producing region largely because of its ideal Mediterranean climate. The vines were once largely dry grown, which allows the fruit to grow with the full flavors and are not diluted by excess water during the growth period. The strength of the Barossa has developed because of the history of expertise of vignerons who have passed on their history and knowledge gained over 150 years. These 150 years of knowledge of the land and its climate, added to modern viticultural practice, has resulted in wineries with specialist skills to make the most of the superb fruit of the Barossa. The Barossa is Australia’s richest and best-known viticultural and winemaking region. Wines from the Barossa are increasingly being sought after on the growing export market where they are recognized for what they are.
